Who's behind this site, anyway?
I'm Jay Maynard, K5ZC. I've been a ham since 1971, and involved in VHF/FM and repeaters since 1975. I'm 45 years old, and live in Fairmont, Minnesota, a town of about 11,000 people 120 miles southwest of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul.
I lived in the Houston area for the first 41 years of my life. In that time, I was a member of several amateur radio clubs, and served in a wide variety of positions in those clubs. I was quite active in VHF/FM, and over the years was trustee of several repeaters in and around Houston.
I was a director of the Texas VHF-FM Society for 12 years, and in that time I held the offices of President, Vice-President, Secretary-Treasurer, and Zone Frequency Coordinator. I am trustee of the Society's club station license, W5OGZ, and a life member of the Society.
I am a Registered Parliamentarian member of the National Association of Parliamentarians and member of the American Institute of Parliamentarians, and have assisted many Presidents of the Society during meetings as Parliamentarian.
Since moving to Minnesota, I have become active in the Minnesota Repeater Council, and currently serve as its Chairman.
So why do you care about Texas, anyway? You don't live there any more.
I sank far too many years, and far too much of my life, into the Society to see it destroyed by a gang of malcontents who don't know what they want to see the Society become except that they don't like what it is now. The work is too important.
